Spring Farm Visit

What’s happening on the Farm this Spring?

The Wynyard Corale

When you visit the tulip farm from late September until mid October, we encourage you to put on your walking shoes and coat, and pick up your camera because you will be able to walk through hectares of shimmering colour in Australia’s largest area of tulips open to the public.  There are around 27 hectares of the farm devoted to bulb cultivation, with over 15 hectares of tulips to bloom this Spring.  We also grow approximately 4 hectares of Dutch iris, 0.25ha of daffodils and 7ha of liliums.  Other crops you may see growing include onions, pyrethrum, and carrots (under plastic).

Please come in and relax in our indoor floral display area. Learn more about the magic of bulbs from our videos and visual displays. Along with refreshments we have beautiful farm fresh flowers for sale, summer flowering lilium bulbs, floral souvenirs and wonderful potted spring bulbs

Art Exhibitions

Each tourism season we feature an art exhibition.  Previous exhibitions have ranged from miniature paintings in various mediums to larger works, from landscapes to abstracts in watercolour, oils and mixed media.  Exhibitions have been presented by the Miniature Art Society of Tasmania Inc., the “Three Plus One” exhibition featuring works by Margaret Brown, Wendy Burrows, Wendy Holloway and Bronwen Roberts-Thomson, the “Spring Collective” exhibition featuring works from Mary Hudson, Margaret Brown, Christine Smith, Andrew Nowland, Sally Sadler and Bronwen Roberts-Thomson, and the "Generation 2" exhibition featuring the creative output of mother and son combination, Bronwen and David Roberts-Thomson in painting, printmaking and sculpture. Last season renowned Tasmanian artist Kit Hiller (previous winner of the Portia Geach Prize and a former Tasmanian of the Year) showed her oils and lino-cuts of local birdlife and flora, together with Margaret Brown's local landscapes..

Special Events

Each year we try to incorporate some special events into our tourism season.  Previous years have featured performances by the Launceston Youth Orchestra, Heavenly Hands, The Devas, and the Marist College Senior Vocal Ensemble.  Each year the Wynyard Chorale also perform at the farm (as pictured above)..
