Tulip flower production
begins for Valentines Day, 14th February, and continues in
small volumes until August when the quantities increase for the months
August – October.
Flowers are shipped
via a sea/road cold chain to Melbourne,
Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide
and by air freight to other mainland destinations. Flowers are also
wholesaled to Tasmanian customers.
During August-September
flower production usually includes single late tulips,
sometimes
known as “French” tulips, together with Triuph and Darwin Hybrid varieties.
This attachment shows how, from the time of housing the tulip bulbs, it takes only 25 days to produce a saleable flower.
