A tall stem of a flowerhead with sprays of deep pink flowerets, above large foliage. The foliage has a lovely autumn colour when the plant starts to die back and become dormant, as soon as the temperature drops.

Filipendula are best planted in back borders and because of the lovely blooms and height, it can be used as feature plant behind those Echinacea or beside those tall grasses. Filipendula rubra's habit is to naturalise, that's why it needs room in the garden. It can be planted in full sun or part shade, and it can adapt acidic or limey soil. Suitable for damp soils. The plant can be propagated through seeds or division but it is best advised to leave it naturalise.
