A mass of orange to red blooms free flowering over a long period. Do well in rock gardens (late flowering).
Tritonia crocata: (Zones 1,2,3,4)
Plant 5cm deep and 9cm apart and water in well. Will naturalise and dividing is only necessary if crowded. Regular watering is needed, ample water during winter and spring. The plants should remain fairly dry during summer and most of autumn. Water is more important prior to flowering. Fertilise with slow release granules to soil prior to planting or fertilise 6 weeks after shoots appear. Prefer well drained soil. Allow the growing medium to dry out completely for the summer, or lift them and store in a cool dry place until autumn.
